서충교 (SUH CHUNG GYO)

서충교는 금속공예를 기반으로 현대적 감각의 가구와 오브제를 제작하는 작가이다.

전통적인 금속 가공 기법과 현대적 디자인을 결합하여 일상 속에서 예술과 실용성이 만나는 지점을 탐구한다.  특히 스툴(stool)이라는 기본적인 가구 형태를 통해 금속 소재의 물성과 구조적 아름다움을 드러내는 작업에 집중하고 있다. 그의 작품은 금속이 가진 차가운 물성을 따뜻한 일상의 공간으로 끌어들이며, 사용자와 오브제 사이의 새로운 관계를 제시한다. 패턴과 구조를 통한 조형적 실험을 바탕으로 기능성과 예술성을 동시에 추구하는 작업을 지속하고 있다.

​Seochungyo is an artist who produces furniture and objects with a modern sense based on metal crafts.Combining traditional metalworking techniques and modern design, we explore the point where art and practicality meet in everyday life.In particular, it is focusing on the work of revealing the physical properties and structural beauty of metal materials through a basic furniture form called a stool.His work draws the cold properties of metal into a warm daily space and presents a new relationship between the user and the object. Based on formative experiments through patterns and structures, it continues to pursue functionality and artistry at the same time.
